[Mac-talk] Problems Burning DVDs

I have used imovie and idvd to burn DVDs of pictures with music  
added. This has worked in the past but now several friends are having  
difficulty playing the DVDs. The sound will play in the back ground  
but the TV screen had black lines running over it. I have burned  
these on a G4Sawtooth using DVDl-- media and my wife's ibook  using  
DVD+ media from a disk image. The DVDs will play on both Apple  
computers and our home APEX DVD player but not on some other DVD  
players.
Is there something we can do to burn a DVD that will be played by any  
DVD player? All I can think of is plus or minus media, lower burn  
speeds, burning from a disk image, higher quality media....
We also want to send these picture DVDs to relatives in Europe, do we  
need to burn these differently?
