when I plug my 1.5 GHz Intel core solo Mac Mini to my Yamaha RX-V992
AV Receiver with a OPTICAL cable and use the tosh link adaptor to
connect the cable to the Mac Mini I get no sound and the DVD/DL Input
is set to auto from the Yamaha. On the mini sound preffs ses that the
Output is Digital Out.
I tried plugging in a RCA cable from my cable box Digital Out port
to the Coaxial in port on the Yamaha and it works just fine. every
thing about the sound on my Mini was working just fine 2 days ago I
do see the read light from the OPTICAL cable from both ends. When
every thing was working just fine I could see PCM Digital come up on
the Yamaha when plugged in from the Mini. when using Coaxial I did
get PCM Digital from some Digital changles.
I called Apple and they could not fix it over the phone. All Apple
told me to do was zap the P-Ram and if that did not work then reset
the PMU. None of that worked. So before I go to Apple to get it
fixed I want to find out if it is the Mini or the OPTICAL connection
on the Yamaha. the sound for the internal speaker and for Head
phones work just fine.
Has any one had this problem before and if so what did you have to do
to get it fixed.
you can email me or just use AIM or Ichat to get to me @ macibookg4
