hi folks,
Since we were seeing a lot of comment spam on our SGVMUG.org website I
have installed a CAPTCHA security feature.
Now, when you want to comment on blog posting you will also be asked
to enter letters that show up on a graphic image under the Leave a
Comment form.
The graphic image shows two or more text words which you have to type
in the box underneath the image.
This facility also performs a secondary function: that of converting
scanned text to words - yes you are actually helping a project run by
Carnegie Mellon University to convert thousands of scanned text to
words..
Here is a sample screenshot of how it looks now :
-------------- next part --------------
A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
Name: pastedGraphic.tiff
Type: image/tiff
Size: 97612 bytes
Desc: not available
Url : http://lists.atomix.godserver.net/pipermail/mac-talk/attachments/20071101/f8b7b626/pastedGraphic-0001.tiff
-------------- next part --------------
In the screenshot above you will type in the words "1971 States" in
the white box labeled "Type the two words" and then press submit
comment.
This method stops all spambots from adding spam comments to our site..
Let me know if you have any questions.
