[Mac-talk] Fixing Invalid node structure?

Prior to backing up my MBP (2.16 Ghz, Mac OS X 
10.4.9) last week, I ran Disk Utility, as usual, 
and, not as usual, got the following error 
message:

Invalid node structure
The volume RedBook needs to be repaired.

Booted from the install disk that came with the 
'Book (10.4.6), and that Disk Utility got the 
same error and declined to fix it.

What will fix this?
