[Mac-talk] Open mail

Hmm. Does it prompt you for the password ? If so, do you enter it  
everytime ?
One way is to open the Keychain Access application in your  
Applications/Utilities folder and delete the record for your mail  
account there. And then the next time  you start Mail it should ask  
you to save your password in Keychain and you should click on the  
'Save in Keychain' option.
A screenshot of the dialog box might help..
